Divorce & Family Law
|
James J. Harrington, III specializes in Family Law and litigates throughout the State of Michigan. His Divorce cases are 65%-70% of his practice which ensures optimum service to his clients. Mr. Harrington does not professionally discriminate in favor of "only men" or "only women": he represents all categories of Domestic Relations clients who need quality legal services: men & women, young & old, long-term or short-term marriages.
His experience in Domestic Relations law spans 33+ years and has resulted in successful conclusion of Divorce cases involving every significant Family Law issue: Property Division, Spousal Support, Child Support, Custody, and C.O.B.R.A. issues, as well as post-Judgment modifications or enforcement.
Mr. Harrington has an outstanding appellate record in Family Law, including the landmark KOWALESKY v. KOWALESKY case, regularly cited by nearly every appellate Court deciding a business valuation claim. Likewise, Mr. Harrington successfully defended a Trial Court verdict in the Court of Appeals, involving a complex Home Schooling case.
Mr. Harrington has spoken at State Bar/Family Law Seminars on Appeals and Discovery in Divorce cases and actively participates in Family Law Section events. The State Bar/Family Law Section published his article on effective use of Experts in Domestic Relations cases and he has guest lectured at the University of Detroit-Mercy Law School.
Mr. Harrington has participated in multiple lectures and presentations as a faculty member of the Institute of Continuing Legal Education including the Family Law Institute, Drafting of Asset Asset Restraining Orders & Ex Parte Orders, and handling Property Division & Spousal Support issues.
